Shanghai 上海is the largest city in China by population and second most populous city in the world. Shanghai has a population of more than 24 million as of 2017.
Shanghai sits on the south edge of the estuary of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the East China coast, a strategic location in Yangtze River Delta, it has became the world’s busiest container port. It is one of the global important financial centre and transport hubs in eastern China.
Shanghai has two huge international airport, good subway system and bullet train to most major Chinese destinations. The frequent flights, trains and buses make one’s travel a breeze. The urban transportation is also quite satisfactory. Despite the traffic jam that do happen occasionally, the convenient taxis, buses, metro trains etc. can take you to any corner of the city.
Best time to visit Shanghai
Winter in Shanghai is windy and chilly, so to visit the water towns, enjoy the Bund and see the scenery during clear warm (or hot) weather, the period from March to the end of November is better.
To avoid crowds, heat and storms, avoid July, August and the first and second weeks of October and first week of May.
